Hugo Hoffstetter took and emotion win at Le Samyn yesterday, from the bunch sprint.
“Such a great moment!” our winner said. “It was a great race from the team. I was always in the front group with 1, 2 or sometimes 3 guys from the team.”
“Jenthe and Tom were very strong today and they did a really great job to help me to win. I knew that in the last lap a group could go and I did my best for to be inside. When things came back together with 1 km to the finish line, I knew that I could win and my sprint was perfect.”
“I want to say thanks to everybody from the team, sponsor and owner because this victory come from me but is for everyone.”
Hugo stayed in the group of favourites the whole race, ably supported not only by Jenthe Biermans, but the whole team. When the final breaks were made, he was on the right side of them. In fourth position going into the final meters of the sprint, he turned on his power, went around the right side and just sailed on past his rivals to take a clear win.
The emotions and tears flowed at the finish line and afterwards. The kind of reaction we love to see.
“It was a beautiful victory for him, but also for the whole team. The other guys did what they had to do and did it really well,” said DS Eric Van Lanker. “Of course we are really happy."
